Ejaculation in the eye

There is evidence that healthcare workers have been infected when getting HIV infected blood in their eye, but there is no evidence that people have been infected through getting semen in their eye.

The eye is lined with a mucous membrane. HIV-infected fluids coming into contact with mucous membranes do pose a risk for possible HIV transmission. Condoms are the safest way to protect yourself and your partner from a possible transmission.

The following body fluids have proven to spread HIV -
  • Blood
  • Semen
  • Vaginal Fluid
  • Breast Milk
  • Other body fluids containing blood
