Serosorting or Seroguessing

Having unprotected sex with partners of same HIV status is often considered safe by many of us. This practice known as serosorting is increasing in popularity among men who have sex with men. However failure to authenticate partners true HIV status, vulnerability to sexually transmitted diseases and superinfection are potential risks associated with serosorting.

Risky behaviours among HIV-positive people can increase their exposure to multiple strains of HIV which can cause superinfection or reinfection. Among HIV negative people serosorting can increase the risk of getting infected with sexually transmitted diseases or even HIV considering one's partner is still in the window period.
